Ontoplano and Todoist
Todoist is an excellent task manager: quick to type into, with natural language dates, projects, labels and filters, and polished apps on every platform. If a list of tasks is what you need, it is hard to beat.
Ontoplano's task list is one room of a larger planner. A task can be put on a day and become a block in the week, counted towards a goal, filed in a notebook with that subject's notes and shopping, given a reminder that rings with the app shut, and reviewed with the rest of the week on Sunday. The tasks are the same; what surrounds them is not.
The honest trade: Todoist has an iPhone app and Ontoplano does not yet — on an iPhone it runs in the browser. Ontoplano is open source, can run on your own machine, and keeps your data where you put it.
Tasks that become the week Give a task a day and a time and it is a block on the calendar, beside the repeating ones.
More than tasks, when you want it Notes, goals, habits, the shopping list and the bills are there; using only the task list is a normal way to use it.
Open source, self-hostable AGPL-3.0, and your own instance is a container or a package away.
